Genetic Effects of Indica Lineage Introgression on Amylopectin Chain Length Distribution in Japonica Milled Rice

نویسندگان

چکیده

The fine structure of amylopectin affects rice quality; in particular, the chain length distribution (ACLD) milled differs between subspecies Oryza sativa L. However, correlation ACLD and quality trait factors, genetic basis phenotypic variation, are still unknown. Here, correlations with cooking eating rapid viscosity analysis (RVA) index were studied using chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs). Clear variations observed introgression lines: indica segments 3 7 increased proportion Fa, another reduced Fb2. A 11 decreased Fa but that Fb3. Correlation RVA further showed breakdown (BDV) was negatively correlated Fb1, Fb2, Fb3 chains, positively Fa. Consistency (CSV) values chains. We thus clarified factors determined by variation ACLD, provide key information for pyramiding inter-subspecific superiority molecular design breeding quality.

Introgression of two chromosome regions for leaf photosynthesis from an indica rice into the genetic background of a japonica rice

Increases in rates of individual leaf photosynthesis (P n) are critical for future increases of rice yields. A previous study, using introgression lines derived from a cross between indica cultivar Habataki, with one of the highest recorded values of P n, and the Japanese elite cultivar Koshihikari, identified four QTLs (qCAR4, qCAR5, qCAR8, and qCAR11) that affect P n. The present study examin...

Effect of indica pedigree on eating and cooking quality in rice backcross inbred lines of indica and japonica crosses

Amylopectin is one of the major determinants of rice (Oryza sativa L.) grain quality, and a large difference in amylopectin is found between two subspecies: japonica and indica. However, the relationship among rice grain quality, indica/japonica genetic background, and amylopectin has not been clearly established. In this study, a series of backcross inbred lines derived from the cross between ...

Effects of Low Temperature Stress on Spikelet-Related Parameters during Anthesis in Indica–Japonica Hybrid Rice

Poor spikelet fertility under low temperature (LT) stress during anthesis limits the possibility of high yield potential in indica-japonica hybrid rice, leading to reduced stability of grain yield. However, the cause for it is still unclear. In this study, three indica-japonica hybrid rice cultivars, Yongyou9, Yongyou17 (both cold sensitive), and Yongyou538, and one japonica inbred rice cultiva...

Comparative proteomic analysis of indica and japonica rice varieties

Indica and japonica are two main subspecies of Asian cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.) that differ clearly in morphological and agronomic traits, in physiological and biochemical characteristics and in their genomic structure. However, the proteins and genes responsible for these differences remain poorly characterized. In this study, proteomic tools, including two-dimensional electrophoresis a...

Inappropriate model rejects independent domestications of indica and japonica rice.

In PNAS, Molina et al. (1) argued for a single origin of cultivated rice based on a demographic analysis of SNPs detected from 630 genes on three rice chromosomes. Although hypotheses for both a single origin (snowballing model) and independent origins (combination model) of rice were previously proposed (2), Molina et al. (1) did not provide conclusive evidence to support the single-origin hyp...
